Rebuild
Recovery after illness or surgery is rarely straight forward.Once you've been medically discharged, you may still feel:
Weaker than expected.
Breathless with small efforts.
Easily fatigued.
Stiff through your chest, ribs and joints.
Unsure what is safe to push.
Anxious about symptoms.
Rebuild is a structured and supportive rehabilitation service designed to help you regain strength, capacity and confidence after physical illness or physiological stress.
Who Rebuild Is For
Rebuild may be appropriate if you are recovering from:
Surgery.
A hospital admission.
An ICU stay.
Severe infection or respiratory illness.
Prolonged bed rest.
Post viral fatigue or deconditioning.
A significant decline in physical ability.
You do not need to have been in hospital to benefit. If your body feels deconditioned, overwhelmed or weak compared to your previous baseline, this service may be suitable for you.
What Makes Rebuild Different
Recovery after medical illness is not the same as standard musculoskeletal physiotherapy or general exercise. It often requires:
Careful pacing.
Close attention to breath mechanics.
Graded exposure to progression.
Nervous system awareness.
Symptom interpretation and reassurance.
Structured progression without flare ups.
Respire Physio combines respiratory expertise with clinical rehabilitation principles to guide this process safely. The focus is not simply on 'getting fitter' - but on rebuilding physiological resilience.
What To Expect
Your rehabilitation will be tailored to your medical history, current ability and recovery stage.Sessions may include:
Breathing pattern optimisation.
Graded strength training.
Mobility work.
Functional training for daily tasks.
Fatigue management strategies.
Confidence rebuilding around exertion.
Education to reduce fear around symptoms.
This approach is steady, structured and measured. There is no pressure to push beyond what is appropriate.Recovery is progressed intelligently.
Clinical Safety
Rebuild is suitable for individuals who:
Have been medically assessed and discharged where appropriate.
Are clinically stable.
Remain under GP or consultant care if required.
If helpful, communication with your medical team can be supported.
The Aim of Rebuild
The goal is to help you:
Restore strength and stamina.
Improve breathing efficiency.
Reduce unnecessary symptom anxiety.
Regain independence.
Return to meaningful daily activity.
Return to work.
Recovery after illness can take time - but it should not feel uncertain or directionless.Rebuild provides structure, clarity and progression.
Next Steps
If you are unsure whether Rebuild is appropriate for your situation, you are welcome to arrange a telephone consultation to discuss your recovery stage before booking.

HCPC MSCP
I’m passionate about helping people breathe better to live better and to feel more in control of their health. With over 11 years of experience, I’ve worked across Somerset, Surrey and Hampshire, developing a strong foundation in both acute and community respiratory care.My clinical background includes managing long term respiratory conditions such as bronchiectasis and COPD, providing airway clearance and breathlessness management, and delivering pulmonary rehabilitation. I also have 7 years of ICU experience, supported by Critical Care master’s modules, enabling me to confidently support patients with complex respiratory needs.
I founded Respire Physio to make specialist respiratory physiotherapy more accessible - bringing care directly into patients’ homes. Through my NHS community work, I’ve seen how important it is for people struggling with breathlessness to receive help in a comfortable, familiar environment. Continuity of care and easy access can genuinely transform someone’s confidence and day-to-day life.
My approach is rooted in compassion, openness, encouragement, empowerment and evidence-based practice. I believe in giving patients clear explanations, real-life strategies they can use every day, and the confidence to take control of their breathing and wellbeing. I’m driven to make a meaningful difference, while also bringing a light-hearted, relaxed and friendly feels to my sessions – because care works best when people feel comfortable.
Respiratory Physiotherapy can make a meaningful difference to people’s lives, and it’s a privilege to support patients on that journey.Outside of work, I love spending time with my family and being outdoors – both help keep me grounded and energised. If you’re living with a long-term respiratory condition or finding breathlessness difficult to manage, I’m here to help you move forward with confidence.

Our Mission | Private Health Insurance
I started Respire Physio because I believe everyone deserves access to specialist respiratory physiotherapy care – especially those who feel most limited by breathlessness. After more than a decade working across hospital, community, and intensive care settings, I saw how deeply respiratory conditions impact daily life, confidence, and independence.
What became clear was that many people simply couldn’t access the support they needed. Travelling to appointments, coping with symptoms, or navigating the healthcare system can be overwhelming when you’re struggling to breathe. I founded Respire Physio to change that – to bring expert care directly into people’s homes, where they feel safest and most able to make progress.
My goal has always been simple:to help people breathe better to live better, feel supported, and regain control of their lives.
Respiratory physiotherapy can transform wellbeing in meaningful, life-changing ways. With every patient I meet, I am reminded how important it is to listen, to take time, and to deliver care with compassion, clarity, and kindness. Respire Physio is built on these principles, alongside evidence-based practice, empowerment, and continuity of care.
I’m proud of the service we’re building – one that is accessible, personal, and rooted in genuine passion for helping people. And I look forward to continuing this work, one breath at a time.- Daniel West, Founder of Respire Physio
